Rev. Stuart Marples became the Pastor of Solid Rock Wesleyan Church on August 1st 2010 following fifteen years as Senior Pastor of The Wesleyan Church in Brockville, Ontario, and thirteen years as Pastor of The Wesleyan Church in Shawville, Quebec.
Pastor Stuart was born in Oxford, England. He attended Berkswell Church of England School and Warwick School for Boys. He moved to Canada in 1978 when his father became the Pastor of The Wesleyan Church in Trenton, Ontario. Pastor Stuart completed Grade 13 at Trenton High School before attending Bethany Bible College (now Kingswood University) in Sussex, New Brunswick. He has both a B.A. in Religion and a B.Sc. in Christian Education and has taken post-graduate courses through Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana. He was ordained at Silver Lake Wesleyan Camp, near Perth, Ontario, in July 1984.
Pastor Stuart and his wife, Kellie, were married on October 8th, 1983, in her home church in Shawville, Quebec. They are the proud parents of three grown children: Shawn who lives and works in Brockville, Ontario; Heidi, who works in Kanata, Ontario; and Ian, who teaches at Kistiganwacheeng Elementary School in Garden Hill, Manitoba.
In addition to their work at Solid Rock, where Kellie teaches Sunday School and serves as a member of the Worship team, the Marples’ are enjoying exploring the beautiful island of Newfoundland. Kellie has become an avid photographer and regularly posts pictures of their adventures on Facebook.
Pastor Stuart is past-president of the Rotary Club of Waterford Valley and served for six years as Board Chairman for World Hope Canada, a Christian relief and development organization headquartered in Kemptville, Ontario. www.worldhope.ca
